A Short Term Buy Tiffany & Co.

Published by admin under jewelry

As the holiday shopping season closely approaches with the economy near or actually beneath its natural rate of unemployment, luxury companies such as the jeweler Tiffany & Co (TIF) start to seem conspicuously enticing. With a strong forecast in terms of holiday sales and a pretty solid economic foundation, you may be surprised to see the best present Santa can give next month: money.

As I mentioned, the unemployment rate, currently at 4.4%, remains at one of the lowest numbers of all time. What that means for shareholders of Tiffany can be examined by the consumers who are obtaining these jobs. As the labor force increases, more consumers are going to be granted employment which will result in a higher overall domestic income for America. Since most Americans utilize a process of a negative savings rate, there is a good chance, relative to most years, consumption of luxury goods such as jewelry will increase in large margins especially during this holiday season. What that means is that margins will dramatically increase in the short run for the next few quarters, and if you are to buy shares of this stock now and sell it before the March earning results poor in, you should see a healthy profit in your portfolio. However, as such an favorable economic foundation remains strong now, because there is still slowing down in many parts of the overall economy, such growth should not sustain all of next year, and it would not be wise to hold on to this company past June 2006.

In relation to other jewelers, Tiffany stands pretty well. In terms of fundamentals, Tiffany has had relatively higher margins on both operating income as well as the top line growth of revenue when compared to rivals Zale and Signet Group. According to Yahoo Finance, the P/E ratio of Tiffany at 21.23 is at a stronger point than either Zale’s at 27.51 or Signet Group at a whopping 48.78. What that means is that relative to its competitors, Tiffany is fairly under priced, and with a good holiday spending season coupled with this undervalued equity, owning shares will absolutely be favorable to the investor. Looking more at a technical side, it is true that Zale, over the past five years, has had a larger increase in terms of share price value, but during the last two years which account for the recent fundamental changes, it has been Tiffany who has overproduced Zale by nearly 60% and has been inline with Signet Group’s production. However, with Signet Group’s overpriced stock juxtaposed to its P/E ratio, Tiffany would definitely be the better buy in this scenario.

Thus with the holiday shopping season approaching rapidly, as an investor, the best gift you may give yourself this year is not a ring from Tiffany, but shares from Tiffany. With a fairly good fundamentals, a strong presence over its competitors, and a favorable economic situation to feed upon, I would not be hesitant to take a short term risk in locating some luck with Tiffany. However, as the economy is always rapidly changing, and as the happy Christmas season turns into a dreaded long winter, I would start to be wary about owning shares of this company past the spring months of 2007.

Soul Mate

Published by admin under jewelry

A few years ago, I realized with great disappointment that I have never met my soul mate. Despite going through several very fulfilling emotional relationships with some wonderful people, there has never been a situation where I could have been one hundred percent in sync with any one of them. Despite the deep affinity, love and intimacy that I may have felt, I have never been comfortable enough to completely bare my soul in front of anyone without that tiniest bit of apprehension of their judgments. Never has there been anyone who seemed to be a part of my flesh and blood.

Some people use the term soul mate without attributing too much depth to it, as simply another being with whom one has a strong emotional bonding or intimacy. I strongly believe that the term has much more potential as an offshoot of the concept of Twin Soul or Twin Flame - the unique, one and only other half of one’s soul, that one person who is a mirror of oneself and with whom one will not have any social pretensions. I feel it denotes a profound connection, which does not require the support of words or language; that it is almost a divine grace that Thomas Moore recognized as “”nothing more precious in life,”" someone who makes me complete and whom after meeting, my life’s journey finds its destination.

One can even take the term as someone that you have had a degree of association with - in past, parallel or future lifetimes. Though this is primarily an oriental, mystic thought, it is not too far too understand the special bond one may feel for someone that we meet as a stranger on the road.

Many people like me realize at some point that that they have missed the experience of encountering their soul mates, and feel incomplete throughout their lives. They cannot find themselves and it’s as if one piece of them is always missing. I think it’s a precious gift to find your soul mate and that this union comes to those who are open to receiving it by abandoning themselves to their passions without any of society’s social conditioning. As Leslie Parrish states, “A soul mate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are…”

Providing Your Dog With Enough Toys

Published by admin under jewelry

Variety is the spice of life. This holds no different when it comes to pet toys, particularly those of a dog. Like a child, having just one or two isn’t very stimulating or helpful to the animal. The dog should have a variety to help give a different range of playtimes. Of course, it’s not toys like a child where they are pressing all kinds of buttons and learning things. But each dog toy is still unique and provides a different experience for the animal.

My dog has four toys that she loves. She is a beagle, and is easily distracted by so many things, yet these four toys keep her occupied and happy. They promote play, chewing, and just feeling good about doing something. They can keep her from just sleeping and being down when the weather is sad or there is no one home. This is a beneficial view for all dog owners.

My dog’s favorite toy is the ball. It is a versatile toy, both for casual and more energetic play. She loves inside the house and outside the house. When she casually plays with it, she just holds it in her mouth, bites down on it a few times, and stuff like that. Sometimes she’ll drop it or toss it, watch it roll, and then pick it up again. Nothing much. When she really wants to play with it, she’ll have me throw it so she can chase it. It’s one of her two active toys.

The other toy that keeps her on the go is Kong. It’s a funny little toy that looks almost like a red snowman. It’s built to bounce when thrown and is great for the outside, especially for those with big yards or parks to play at. Not only can you throw it far, like a ball, but it has a great bounce to it and can go off in many directions. It keeps the dog on its toys and excited to play.

Her third toy is a red Nylabone that has been around for years. She just loves it and it is her favorite chew toy. It is probably the best chew toy she could have. It’s thick, strong, well-made, and still fun to chew on. This is great for dogs to keep their teeth strong and to give them something to chew on other than slippers and furniture.

Her fourth toy doesn’t last long and is constantly being replaced, but she loves it. It is a rope, another great chew toy, but for a different reason. It’s like a floss for dogs, helping keep their teeth and mouths clean and healthy. She goes to town on it, obsessed with ripping it apart in the first day. If it’s a small one, she’ll have it in threads all over the rug within an hour. But a nice thick, sturdy one will last for a while and keep her very happy.

These are my dogs four favorite toys, but they are not the only good toys out there for dogs. It depends on the dog’s personality and the size. Some toys are great for smaller dogs, some for larger, some for calmer dogs and some for more active. They can be squeaky toys, plush animals, rawhides, and other special bones. They come in numerous sizes, shapes, and designs to provide a great variety of entertainment.

The key is providing your dog with a variety of toys to enjoy. This not only makes sure they will last longer, but also keep your dog occupied. They won’t get bored fast with just one toy which can happen. Dogs, like all animals, need a variety of ways to have fun. We can’t always be there to play with them, to run around outside or give them the attention they need and deserve. When they are left alone or the owner is too sick or busy, having a nice variety of toys can go a long way and keep the dog happy and amused.
